Between 1954 and 1961 this was my home. My father, Bill Lewis, was the Principle Keeper and served for over 40 years in Trinity House (the Lighthouse Service). You can see from the cliff top view the Lighthouse has a small tower above a 300 foot cliff. This was very scary for our mother with four lively children running around. The description is taken from a plack in the Whitby Museum  where the original burner  can be seen  which powered the light. The red shown in the lantern acts as an additional warning for shipping to keep well clear of the Saltwick Nab rocks.(Whitby Rock)  Our small house is the one in the foreground.
